There are two sets of coaching in the app, and you choose which you want to hear at the start of each round.
The PreSwing voice reads the written tip library aloud: the 600 tips that shipped with the app, plus anything you have added. On the round setup screen it appears as Caddie Male and Caddie Female.
The pro voices are four professionals who recorded their own tips, in their own voices, two per Skill. That is 240 recordings.
You can also record your own voice, or your coach's.

Each recorded their own guidance, two tips per Skill. A tour caddie and a teaching professional see the same shot differently, and both are worth hearing.
Browsing a pro
Tap the small i badge on a pro's card to read their background.
Pro recordings download to your phone during sync rather than when you tap play, so they work on the back nine with no signal.
Every one of the 30 built-in Skills appears on a pro's list. If you open one and nothing is there, that pro did not record for it.
Skills you created yourself do not appear under a pro, because the pros only recorded for the 30 that ship with PreSwing. A Skill you made has audio from your typed tips, and from anything you or your coach record for it.
Recording in your own voice
Recordings stop automatically at 60 seconds. These play before a shot, so a few seconds is usually all you need.
There is no preview before saving. Save it, play it back from the list, and delete it if you want another take.
You can record as many takes as you want for a Skill. The one at the top of the list is the one that plays during a round. Press and hold to drag them into order.
To rename a recording, add a description, or delete it, swipe left on it.
Recording your coach
Same steps, different card. Tap your coach's card on the home screen, choose a Skill, and tap +.
Hand your phone to your instructor at the end of a lesson and have them record the two or three things they want you thinking about.
To set your instructor's name:
Their name then appears throughout the app in place of the generic label.
Choosing a voice for a round
You pick one voice per round, on the round settings screen before you start.
Caddie Male and Caddie Female read back your own written tips. The rest are recordings of real people.
You have to choose a voice before you can start.
Why you cannot switch mid round
When you tap Start Round, PreSwing copies the audio for your chosen voice onto your iPhone and your Apple Watch before you hit your first shot.
That is what makes it work on the course. No streaming, no waiting. Ask for a Driver reminder on the twelfth tee with one bar of signal and it plays instantly.
The trade is that the voice is fixed for the round. To use a different one, finish the round and start a new one.
Male or female
Preferred Voice in Profile Settings sets whether your typed tips are read in a male or a female voice, everywhere outside a round.
At the start of a round you choose Caddie Male or Caddie Female directly, so whatever you pick there is what you hear for that round.
This only affects the PreSwing voice. The pros, your coach, and your own recordings are real people, so there is one version of each.
What is free
The four pro voices, My Voice, and My Coach all need a subscription.
The PreSwing voice reading the written tips is free for the three free Skills, which is 60 professionally written tips.
If a subscription lapses, none of your recordings are deleted. They are waiting when you come back.
Questions
Which recording plays during a round?
The one at the top of the list for that Skill. If you have three takes of a putting cue, the top one is what you hear. Open the Skill under My Voice or My Coach, press and hold a recording, and drag it to the top to change which one plays.
Can I listen to a recording before saving it?
Not yet. When you stop recording, PreSwing asks for a title and saves it. To check it, play it back from the list afterward, and swipe left to delete it if you want another take.
How long can a recording be?
My Voice and My Coach recordings stop automatically at 60 seconds. These are cues you hear before a shot, so most are well under that. For longer recordings, like a coach talking through a whole lesson, use the Audios tab inside a Skill, which allows up to three minutes.
Can I hear more than one voice in the same round?
No, one voice per round. The audio is copied onto your devices at the start so it plays without a signal, which means the choice is locked once you begin. Finish the round and start a new one to switch.
A pro's Skill will not play.
Either the recording has not finished downloading, or that pro did not record for that Skill. Try Force Sync in Settings first. If the Skill is genuinely empty when you open it, there is nothing recorded there.
Why do my own Skills not show up under a pro?
The pros recorded for the 30 Skills that ship with PreSwing, so there is nothing for them to say about a Skill you invented. Your own Skills still work with every other voice: write tips and the PreSwing voice reads them back, record a cue yourself under My Voice, or hand your phone to your coach and have them record one.
Can I record on my Apple Watch?
My Voice and My Coach recordings are made on your iPhone. The Watch can record audio notes, but those save to a Skill's Audios tab rather than to My Voice, so they are not what plays before a shot.
My coach's name is not showing.
Set it in Settings, then Profile, under My Coach Name, then tap Save Settings. If you leave it blank the card just says My Coach.
Will I lose my recordings if I cancel my subscription?
No. Nothing is deleted. Your recordings stay exactly where they are and are available again as soon as you resubscribe.
Do my recordings move to a new iPhone?
Yes, as long as they finished uploading before you switched. Sign in with the same Apple ID and they come back. If you are changing phones, open PreSwing on the old one while connected and let it finish syncing first.
