Skills are how PreSwing organizes your game. Each Skill holds the tips, recordings, notes, and video for one part of your game.

Every Skill comes with tips already written
Each Skill arrives with 20 tips, written by Eric Slack, our Director of Golf Operations, and Justin Klemballa, PGA, the 2023 Southwest Section PGA Teacher of the Year. That is 600 tips across the 30 Skills, covering technique, feel, and course management.
Nothing is generated by AI and nothing is inferred from your data. Every tip in the library was written by a teaching professional.
You do not have to write anything to use the app. Open a Skill, tap the speaker, and you hear five of them read aloud. Writing your own is how you personalize it, not how you start.
Playing a Skill
Each row in the list has a speaker icon on the left and the Skill name next to it.
If nothing plays, the audio has not been built yet. Open the Skill, go to the Tips tab, and tap Play Tips once. That builds the file the list plays from.
What is inside a Skill
Open any Skill and there are five tabs across the bottom.
Tips are short written reminders, the 20 that shipped with the Skill plus anything you add. PreSwing reads them back to you.
Voices holds the pro recordings for that Skill, plus your own voice and your coach's.
Notes are longer written thoughts you want to keep but not hear read aloud.
Audios holds longer recordings, up to three minutes each.
Videos holds up to eight clips per Skill, two minutes each, plus links to video hosted elsewhere. Links do not count toward the eight.
Adding a tip
PreSwing generates the audio, which takes a few seconds. You need a connection for this step.
Your new tip goes to the top of the list, and everything else moves down, including the tips that shipped with the Skill.
The five tip rule
Only the top five tips play. A Skill you have not touched plays five of the 20 that shipped with it.
Add your own and it goes to the top, which pushes what was fifth down out of the rotation. Nothing is deleted, it just stops playing until you move it back up.
Press and hold to drag tips into the order you want. That is how you blend your own with the ones that shipped: your coach's cue first, two curated ones underneath.
Reordering your tips
The audio rebuilds as soon as you let go, so the order you see is the order you hear.
Reordering your Skills
Same interaction, on the main Skills list.
The order saves immediately and follows you to your other devices and your Apple Watch.
Hiding Skills you do not use
Hiding removes a Skill from your list without deleting anything inside it.
At least one Skill has to stay on.
To bring a Skill back, tap Select again and turn its switch back on. Your tips, recordings, and video are all still there.
The same Select button works inside a Skill for hiding individual tips, audios, and videos.
Creating your own Skill
Creating Skills requires a subscription.
It appears at the top of your list, ready for tips, recordings, and video. There is no limit on how many you can create.
Renaming and deleting your own Skills
You cannot rename or delete the 30 built-in Skills. Hide them instead.
What is free
Three Skills are open to everyone: PreSwing, Set-Up, and Driver, which is 60 professionally written tips you can listen to without subscribing.
These three are free by name, not by position. Moving another Skill to the top of your list does not make it free.
The other 27 need a subscription. So does creating your own Skills, and adding or editing tips, audio, and video.
Skills you created while subscribed stay open to you if a subscription lapses. You can still play them, you just cannot add to them or create new ones until you resubscribe.
Questions
Why can I see a Skill but not open it?
It is locked. Locked Skills are dimmed with a small padlock on the right, and 27 of the 30 need a subscription. PreSwing, Set-Up, and Driver are open to everyone. Tapping a locked Skill opens the subscription screen so you can see what it includes.
Nothing happens when I tap the speaker icon.
The combined audio for that Skill has not been built yet. Open the Skill, go to the Tips tab, and tap Play Tips once. That builds the file the Skills list plays from, and the speaker icon will work from then on. If you have no tips in that Skill yet, add one first.
Why do only five tips play?
Five is the maximum, not a fixed number. Since each Skill ships with 20 tips, you hear the first five and the other 15 wait in the list. The limit is there because a handful of short reminders is about all anyone can act on before a shot. If the five you want are not the ones playing, press and hold to drag them to the top.
Do I have to write my own tips?
No. Every Skill arrives with 20 written by our PGA professionals. Tap the speaker and you hear five of them straight away. Writing your own is how you personalize it, not how you start.
Can I get rid of the tips that came with the app?
Yes, hide them or delete them. Hiding is usually better since it keeps them available. Tap Select on the Tips tab, turn them off, and tap Done.
I added a tip and stopped hearing one of my old ones.
New tips go to the top of the list, so adding a sixth tip pushes what was your fifth tip down out of the top five. Nothing is deleted. Open the Skill, go to the Tips tab, and drag the one you want back up into the top five.
I cannot rename or delete a built-in Skill.
That is correct, the 30 that ship with PreSwing are fixed. Hide it instead: tap Select, turn its switch off, and tap Done. It disappears from your list and everything inside it is kept. Skills you created yourself can be renamed and deleted by swiping left on them.
Where did my Skill go?
It is almost certainly hidden. Tap Select on the Skills list and look for a switch that is off. Turn it back on and tap Done, and the Skill returns with your tips, recordings, and video intact. If it is a Skill you created and it is genuinely gone, it was deleted, and deleting is permanent.
Can I put Skills into folders or categories?
No, it is one flat list, and there is no search. Reordering and hiding are how you shape it. Drag the Skills you use to the top, hide the ones you do not, and the list stays short enough to scan on the tee.
Do my changes appear on my other devices?
Yes. Adding, renaming, reordering, hiding, and deleting all sync as soon as you make them, and reach your Apple Watch too. If something is not showing up, pull down on the home screen to sync, or use Force Sync in Settings.
